Top 5 beaches in Europe. Discover them with your Golden Visa

The European country with the most number of beautiful beaches is Spain followed by Greece and Portugal – countries that fortunately offer the Golden Visa.

Top Five Most Beautiful Beaches in Europe:

  1. Playa de Ses Illetes, Formentera

Formentera is the smallest of Spain’s Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea.  The Playa de Ses Illetes (The Beach of Small Islands) is located in the peninsula of Es Trucadors in the northern part of Formentera Island. The sand there is almost pink and is simply a mix of fine white sand and  coral residue.

The small islands are Illa des Ponent, Illa de Tramuntana, Escull des Pou, Illa Rodona, Escull d’ en Paia, Raco des Palo and the most famous, Espalmador.

The secret of these crystalline blue waters is the posidonia oceanica, an aquatic plant that is spread throughout the Mediterranean Sea. This plant (and not a seaweed) produces a large quantity of oxygen that increases the transparency of marine waters, one indicator of a healthy ocean.  This ecosystem is of great ecological importance and protected by the European Union.

The deliberate absence of umbrellas and sunbeds for rent and man-made structures make these beaches ideal to visit although they are not without people. Entrance and exits to the beach are monitored and limited to a specific number of people.

Transport to the beach is controlled to minimize pollution. From Ibiza, it is a ferry ride away.

Windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, stand up paddling or snorkelling are some of the activities allowed on Playa Ses Illetes.

Juan y Andrea and Es Moli de Sal are two of famous exclusive and expensive restaurants found on Playa Ses Illetes.

  1. Calla Macarella, Menorca

Menorca is on of Spain’s Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea.  Calla Macarella is a horseshoe-shaped cove set in a deep rocky inlet of limestone hills covered in pine trees. The limestone hills are dotted with caves, hollows and cavities that continue underwater. Snorkeling is therefore a favorite activity in Calla Macarella.  The beach does not get too crowded because of its remoteness and has facilities like lifeguard services, toilets, showers and a good restaurant by the white sand beach.  Marcarelleta is smaller beach on the next cove.

  1. Praia da Arrifana, Portugal

Praia da Arrifana is a shell-shaped bay surrounded by craggy, black schist sea cliffs that shelter it from cold winds and waves from the north.

It is located in Algrave’s wild, wind-whipped west coast. The high waves from the Atlantic Ocean make Praia da Arrifana a great place for surfing.

While development is controlled, there are cafes, bars, restaurants and hostels in the village high on the cliffs looking out to Atlantic Ocean. The ruins of Fort Arrifana are located nearby. A highly protected area, the beach can only be reached on foot.

  1. Navagio Beach, Greece

Navagio Beach is also called or Smuggler’s Cove or Shipwreck Beach because of the rusting hulk of the MV Panagiotis, a smuggler’s ship that ran aground on the beach in October, 1980 after being chased by the Greek Coast Guard right into cove for smuggling in cigarettes, booze and possibly humans.  It is an exposed cove on the coast of Zakynthos in the Ionian Islands. This sandy strip can be reached only by boat.

  1. Myrtos Beach, Kefallonia

Myrtos Beach is a mile-an-a-half long arc of dazzling white sand located on Kefallonia Island in the Ionian Sea. It sits between the feet of two mountains, Agia Dynati and Kalon Oros and is surrounded by cliffs with lush vegetation. Its pure and natural beauty attract beach lovers all year round.
